Senior Legal Officer
36-40 hours per week, initially for one year, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Triple Jump is an independent, responsible investment manager focused on impact investing in emerging markets. We are headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with regional offices in Georgia, Peru, Mexico, Thailand and Kenya. Our investment portfolio spans more than 60 countries. Triple Jump targets financial sector development and invests in institutions that service the bottom of the pyramid. Triple Jump offers professional fund management services to investors, ranging from asset selection, to portfolio management to fund administration. Thanks to mandates from multiple investors Triple Jump can provide services to financial intermediaries in all stages of their development. Triple Jump investees include financial institutions (ranging from NGOs receiving their first funding, all the way to regulated banks) and investment funds, in developing countries.

Job description

As Senior Legal Officer you will join the Legal Transactions Team. You will be independently assisting and coordinating the legal documentation processes relating to investments and divestments made by Triple Jump on behalf of its mandates. This entails being responsible for the ordinary investments through all stages of the transaction process and monitoring the portfolio, specifically: review of- and legal advice on internal proposals, the preparation, review and negotiation of transaction documentation, and overall process management, and supporting Legal Counsel in extraordinary legal processes. The role will primarily be focused on equity and fund of funds transactions, including legal administration of the funds and mandates themselves. Additionally, you will be expected to assisted with debt transactions from time to time, ensuring comprehensive legal coverage across all investment activities. In this role, you will coordinate with external counsel and collaborate closely with the counsel of co-investors.

We expect you to be aware of developments in the legal and regulatory environment. You will closely cooperate with our commercial teams and support functions. The position is based in Amsterdam and requires limited travel to countries where Triple Jump is active.

Job requirements

• A Dutch law degree, (a focus on Finance Law is preferred);
• Experience (> 4 years) in reviewing, negotiating and managing financial transaction documentation (experience with equity, fund investment or debt transactions is a plus);
• Detailed knowledge of contract law, preferably through working at an international law firm or financial institution;
• Experience with managing external counsel;
• Demonstrated independent decision-making, with a proactive, “hands-on” approach;
• Team player;
• Proactive and on the job learner;
• Good negotiation skills;
• Strategic mindset;
• Experience with impact investing or emerging markets is strongly valued;
• An affinity with Triple Jump’s mission and vision;
• A sense of humour, an awareness for cultural sensitivities in an international and diverse work environment, and a curiosity for relevant regulatory developments;
• Fluency in English required, good knowledge of Dutch, Spanish, or French also considered an advantage.
